A tribute from Nick Lloyd

I began my career at the age of 14yrs. It was late summer afternoon that I gingerly poked my head around the open front door of the "Stage Door School of Dancing". Drawn in by the music I had to stop and watch.

As a young boy I had always wanted to dance like Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly, most Sundays watching them in what was then the old black and white movies.

On that day before my very eyes, was my dream come true: A chance to become a Fred Astaire.

At the age of 14, Maureen Headford took me under her wing, introducing me not just to my dream discipline of Tap dancing, but to all three dance disciplines Ballet, Modern, and Tap: The training that every  young dancer needs to take to the stage to become a professional.

Thanks to Maureen Headford and her excellent training, I have been dancing professionally now for the last thirty-four years, fulfilling my dream of becoming Fred Astaire and much, much, more.

My career has taken me around the world, working for the top TV choreographers such as : Nigel Lythgo, Norman Main, Geoff Ritcher, Brian Rogers, Arlene Phillips, just to name a few.

I have enjoyed a successful career in the West End of London with shows such as Beyond the Rainbow and Starlight Express.

After  moving to Germany in the late 90's with the German production of "Starlight Express" I finally opened my own Dancing School.

This would not have been possible without Maureen’s  patience, dedication and excellent training.

I had a wonderful three years at the Stage Door School of Dancing.

Thank you Maureen,

My early years as a student was a time I will always treasure.
