Hello Everybody!

It is a great honour to become a patron of the Stage Door School of Dance and Drama as I know only too well the high calibre of performer this centre of excellence has nurtured over the past few decades; I have been lucky enough to work alongside them in many pantomimes and variety shows.

The teachers and visiting tutors demand standards that match those required in the business itself; imposing the correct disciplined environment to allow each individual to flourish as well ensuring teamwork.

At each of the five pantomimes I have directed at the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre, I have been fortunate to have Stage Door students in the company - both young and older dancers. It is a total joy to work alongside them, Maureen and Julie, as well as all the chaperones and parents.

The students are regularly singled out by reviewers for their fantastic performances and contributions to the show.

Ask any visiting director to Bournemouth and I am sure they will agree that the Stage Door School of Dance and Drama is one of the most competent and focussed schools in the UK.

Biography

Chris Jarvis is the best known as one half of the double-act Chris and Pui on Cbeebies, pre-school television from the BBC. Together with Pui Fan Lee, he hosts Show me show me an indoor discovery of the world around us – with songs, sketches, makes, stories and rhymes. The third series go into production next month and then the duo are back on the road with a brand new theatre show for 2011 – find out more at www.chrisandpui.com.

Also on Cbeebies, Chris brings stories to life with impressions and funny voices in Step Inside. Meanwhile, on CITV, he adopts the more energetic role of jungle guide as host of Jungle Run.

He starred in Maths Mansion for Channel 4 and a variety of shows for the BBC, including: the teen magazine Fully Booked, sketch show The Friday Zone, Short Change, Look Sharp, Playdays and The Broom Cupboard. In character, he played the Anorak and starred in Wood Lane TV. He provided voices for Dream Street and Underground Ernie and guest-starred in ChuckleVision and The Demon Headmaster.

Across the UK, Chris hosts family concerts with the BBC Philharmonic and London Philharmonic orchestras. He takes the audience on a musical journey introducing composers and different musical styles, encouraging everyone to join in and sing along with the orchestra. He has written stories for such prestigious composers as Paul Patterson (The Magic Orchestra), Matthew Hindson (Dangerous Creatures) and Dario Marianelli (The Sea Trilogy).

Chris got his big break at 18 with his own show on Radio Orwell, then on LBC Radio in London. After gaining invaluable experience in cabaret and holiday camps, he was given a chance to entertain on television.

He was involved in amateur dramatics from an early age but his greatest inspiration was his grandmother, who was a dancer in some of the great London Palladium pantomimes. In her footsteps, he has appeared in many professional pantos in such prestigious venues as Swansea, Richmond, Bromley, Basingstoke and, of course, Bournemouth.
