A Time To Celebrate

"I can't believe it's 40 years since the first dance class was held at the The Stage Door School of Dance & Drama at our Holdenhurst Road premises, where we still are today. I can still remember it - six little 3 year olds learning baby ballet - all of them the children of friends of mine! Since then thousands of children have come to us, some for a short time, but many for much longer periods and then gone on to fulfil their career ambitions with the skills that they have learnt with us. Hopefully, all of them will have benefited from their time with us and enjoyed the wonderful experiences dance can offer.

What better way to celebrate this landmark event by giving all our pupils, young and old, the opportunity to appear in "A Time To Celebrate". We do hope that lots of you, including all the old "Stage Doorers" out there, will come and support, what I know will be, a wonderful show!"

Summer School 2011 "The Wizard of Oz"

This year the week of Summer School was spent putting on a performance of "The Wizard of Oz".

23 students, aged from 7 to 17 years old, worked together to not only learn scripts, songs and dance routines, but also to produce scenery, costumes and props. What a fantastic two shows they put on for their parents and guests on the last day. We were very pleased to welcome our patron, Chris Jarvis, to be part of the audience and a good time was had by all !!!

Francesca Dallaglio Award

In March 2011 Amy Travers was presented with the Francesca Dallaglio Award by the Spanish Dance Society. This Award is given to the pupil, who has, in the opinion of examiner presiding over the English examination sessions, shown the most potential in a Spanish Dance Examination and we are thriled that Amy, 9years, a pupil of the Stage Door School of Dance & Drama was chosen this year.

In July 2011 Amy travelled to London and performed her Examination dance for the Spanish Dance Society's Summer School. She is seen here with Sue Hilton, her Spanish Dance Teacher and Theo Dantes, a major examiner for the Spanish Dance Society who chose Amy for this award.
