David Morgan

David hails from Bournemouth and from the age of six to fourteen trained in Ballroom and Latin American Dance.

Early Dance training was taken at The Stage Door School of Dance and Drama in Bournemouth under the direction of Maureen Headford. My time at the Stage Door was such a special time for me as Maureen was instrumental in my decision to go into the Theatre professionally. I remember it was rather daunting at first……being the oldest pupil at the school and one of the very few males! I remember my first class with Maureen. This was early seventies so I turned up in tight lilac flares!!!! No dance belt!!! Maureen explained to me the correct clothing for class was essential! My first ‘Dance Belt’ was a wonder!!!!!!!! I think I must be the only person to try the thing on back to front!!! Not an easy manoeuvre! The atmosphere at Stage Door was terrific Maureen’s passion for teaching, the family feel and camaraderie were exemplary . Maureen managed to get me a private audition for Doreen Bird and her Performing Arts College. I was lucky to receive a three year scholarship from Doreen. I was on my way. Again, the oldest boy of only three at the College it was the best time…..I found my vocation.
